In Memory of My Best Friend

My friend, Sue (on the right) passed away yesterday, March 19, 2008. I will miss her forever. She was only 52. She would have celebrated her 53rd birthday on April 18th.

The Bitter Pill

The Bitter Pill

I lay awake in bed last night not sleeping
just thinking of you

The silence that fills the space that we once shared
is like the rage of a thousand tornados barreling through

I don't know when the tears will end
or I'll feel relief from the pain in my heart

Or how I'll ever understand the mystery of
when one's soul departs

It is such a bitter pill that we must swallow
when a loved one passes away

We reach for answers and look to the sky
and then fall on our knees and pray

"Oh Beloved God in Heaven high, your mercy
flood through me

Please let me know that my friend's with you
and Your Glory she may see."

The silence that fills the space we once shared
is like a vast dark cavern deep

And the sound of a thousand raging tornados are keeping me from my sleep

Death came as a bitter pill of sorrow that engulfed me
in it's pain

But my faith tells me, despite it all, that I will see her
again

Thoughts

You are in my thoughts today
So let your cares just drift away
Let them float upon the breeze
Let them float to where they please
Just let them go and let them fly
Send them with a fond good-bye
For were we to live a life of ease
We'd do and say and be as we please
It's when our feelings feel so low
That we will learn and we will grow
And then to have a better day
To let our troubles float away

Losing Love

Midnite kisses on a quiet beach
A love that feels so out of reach
Walking alone I dream of you
That is all I want to do

Kicking sand between my toes
Trying to wish away my whoes
Counting stars that sparkle high
Will wait for dawn to say good-bye

Fainting memory on my mind
Of a love that's left behind
You walked away and said good-bye
Told me I should not ask why

On to new dreams I must go
Underneath this moonlite glow
But one more thing that I will do
A kiss good-bye and an I love you
