The Bitter Pill
I lay awake in bed last night not sleeping
just thinking of you
The silence that fills the space that we once shared
is like the rage of a thousand tornados barreling through
I don't know when the tears will end
or I'll feel relief from the pain in my heart
Or how I'll ever understand the mystery of
when one's soul departs
It is such a bitter pill that we must swallow
when a loved one passes away
We reach for answers and look to the sky
and then fall on our knees and pray
"Oh Beloved God in Heaven high, your mercy
flood through me
Please let me know that my friend's with you
and Your Glory she may see."
The silence that fills the space we once shared
is like a vast dark cavern deep
And the sound of a thousand raging tornados are keeping me from my sleep
Death came as a bitter pill of sorrow that engulfed me
in it's pain
But my faith tells me, despite it all, that I will see her
again
But my faith tells me, despite it all, that I will see her
again
