Thoughts on Jesus

Holy Infant so tender and mild

Who'd know we'd expect

so much of this Child?

-

Is Christmas just Santa

with reindeer so merry?

Or a message of peace

that this Baby would carry?

-

Every day in our world

reels the sound of a bomb

Why have we drifted

from His Glorious Calm?

-

Is it easier to kill, to rob, and destroy,

than to follow His will,

and bask in His joy?

-

Has He given us Christmas

a time to renew

and be kind to others

as He told us to do?

-

Or is Christmas just presents, and

"What did I get?"

or the story of Jesus

ignored until yet?

-

He gives us free choice

and paid the great price

Yet many deny Him

and never think twice.

-

It's to easy to lie, to steal and destroy

After all it's absured

to follow a Boy!

-

Yet by twilight they gathered

huddled and cold

to see the great Jesus

and the future be told

-

For there in the stable we were given a choice

to follow the world

or heed His small voice

-

When Christmas is over

will you go back to your ways

or read in the Bible

and give Him your praise?

-

Our world and our country

and even our home

is the best place for Jesus to come

-

Lets live for the Infant

so tender and mild

Just look what He gave

and He's only a Child!

-

Written in December 1988 just after the Americans in Beruit, Lebanon were bombed and many of our brave Armed Forces lost their lives. It was nearly Christmas and I remember the entire country was in mourning. May we NEVER forget!
